After last night’s loss to the Melbourne Renegades, the Hobart Hurricanes can confirm that South African star, Chloe Tryon, will depart the Hurricanes squad to be replaced by 26-year-old New Zealand International, Rosemary Mair.
Tryon was an influential member of the Hobart Hurricanes squad and played a key role for the Hurricanes in helping them to a potential finals berth ahead of Saturday night’s ‘do or die’ match against the Perth Scorchers.
Mair joins the Hurricanes with great experience from New Zealand’s national set-up, where she played with fellow Hurricane, Suzie Bates in the most recent ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Dubai, where they won their first World Cup title since 2000.
She was a major component of New Zealand’s bowling line-up taking 3-25 in the Final against South Africa, along with 4-19 during the group stages against India.
Her pace bowling will add another layer of international experience to the Hurricanes squad, having already played in WBBL|06 for the Melbourne Renegades, and will provide a valuable bowling option for Captain Elyse Villani.
Mair will be a vital inclusion to the Hurricanes squad, ahead of Saturday’s clash at the WACA Ground.
The equation for the Hobart Hurricanes is simple, win and finish fourth, lose and they are knocked out of WBBL Finals contention.
With plenty of matches still to be played ahead of Saturday’s game against the Scorchers, the Hurricanes still have fate in their own hands and despite losing last night to the Renegades, the Hurricanes finals chances for WBBL|10 are still alive.
The match on Saturday starts 8.55 PM AEST, and the WBBL|10 Finals start on Wednesday.
